Off to see the new Bond movie with the wife on Saturday.
\nSkyfall had finished it’s run at AMC and was playing for $3
\nat our local Movies 8.\u00a0 We arrived 10 minutes early but
\nwere soon enough treated to the first of the previews.
\nA lot of previews.\u00a0 Eight in all, plus they ran the preview
\nfor JANGO TWICE!\u00a0 Then the screen went black, and
\nstayed black.\u00a0 Music started playing, the screen is black.
\nFinally a manager pokes his head in and just says, “It
\nwill just be a couple of minutes, folks.”\u00a0 Okay, five
\nminutes and Skyfall starts.\u00a0 But wait, it is already into
\nthe movie.\u00a0 So a patron goes to the manager and asks
\nthat we be shown the movie from the beginning.\u00a0 The
\nmovie stops.\u00a0 The screen is blank.\u00a0 Music is playing and
\nthe pre-show slides start to run again.\u00a0 More than 20
\nminutes have passed since the start time.\u00a0 Finally the
\nroom goes dark, the music stops, and the previews
\nstart again!!!\u00a0 We are all holding our breath but at the
\nend of Previews II Skyfall starts.\u00a0 That is when everyone
\nrealizes we were only 1 minute into the movie the first
\ntime through.\u00a0 It took the first 30 minutes of the film to get over the
\nexperience.\u00a0 And that is not all.\u00a0 When we finally exited the
\ntheatre, standing in the lobby were 40 people expecting the
\nfilm to be starting again. WOW!\u00a0 The lesson here is that when
\nsomething like this happens you can expect a ripple effect.
